Cameron Leon White is an Australian Cricketer and former Australian Twenty20 captain. He was destined to play a significant role for Australia. He had the talent of a leg spinner, a middle-order batsman as well as an intuitive skipper. He was first tried as a test leggie in 2008 against India and recognizing his potential he was delegated as Australian twenty20 captain.
Just as he was being recognized as a potential player, Cameron White yet again surprised the world with his power packed Batsman ship. In 2009, as a fill-in for Ricky Ponting at No.3, White scored 105 against England in an innings which made everybody take a notice of White’s caliber. He continued to shower his storm and another century came at the home grounds against Pakistan, and the magic of his batting continued. But at the same time his bowling has been pretty much non-existent.
Captaining Victoria in 2003-04 at the age of 20, the youngest skipper in their history, he won rave reviews for his cool head and warm handling of more hardened contemporaries.
The auction for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw the majority of the world's cricketing talent up for sale in a very public forum. White was recognized as a serious potential and was signed up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Later White was recalled to the Australian ODI and Twenty20 squads for the 2008 tour of the West Indies. White had his ups and downs at various points. He was often expected to deliver bowling but White has always been inclined more towards the batting.
White is a very exciting Twenty20 player and his domestic record in Australia is phenomenal. In the fourth season, White was bought by Deccan Chargers for US$1.1 million. He is the 2nd highest paid Australian, behind David Hussey. He was named Vice Captain of the Deccan Chargers, with Kumar Sangakkara captain of the side.
