Jean-Paul Duminy, one amongst the top notch players of South African team, was recognized as a potential international player very early. He made his ODI debut in 2004. Not only is he a top order batsman, but also a skilled fielder and a useful change bowler. Duminy made his test debut against Australia. And there in that series Duminy emerged out as crucial player. By elevating South Africa’s score to a successful chase of 414 in Perth with an unbeaten 50, followed with a fantabulous 166 in Melbourne, his contribution was a remarkable one as it sealed the first test series win of South Africa on Australian grounds. And with that Duminy concreted his place in the South African Squad.
This elegant and a graceful batsman has a great calmness and composure. Slowly though, but he has emerged out as a reliable player and has honed his batting skills to a great extent. Duminy played in the Indian Premier League in 2009 after the Mumbai Indians franchise acquired him for US$ 950,000. He scored two half-centuries in the tournament. And at the IPL Auction 2011 Deccan Chargers got JP Duminy at the cost of $300,000. Duminy is to fill in the role of a batsman for the Deccan Chargers.
